SYMBIOTIC
Uncertainty gnarls
through a monotonous sky
roaring across air
sending jet-waves of vapor
to fall upon this primitive sea of
Piñon and Juniper desert
that is my home.
Forged between the foothills
of Pikes Peak, I’m familiar
with elements of weather
changing its wardrobe often
three times a day
Winter chewing Spring
Summer teasing lingering frost
as restlessness mounts and assaults
its own personal ascent.
All streamlines of timid bloom
and death by freeze remains a
concert of the forgiving heart
a song of nature we’ve been
innately groomed to participate in
bleed alongside its rippling backbone
exhale forth its ancient chant
waver without adversity in its moments
of chosen stillness ~ ~
alas stand proud within its raging storms.
We are its catalyst,
its eternal hum.
